Hi,
When a user starts ArcGIS Pro on an identified machine (I created alias ‘company laptop’ for mine), a session is displayed in the ‘License Activity’ tool via https://myorg.maps.arcgis.com/home/organization.html#licenses
According to the docu this session will be renewed as long as the user stays active in the project. If the user becomes inactive, however, this generates a new session:
"ArcGIS Pro sessions last 30 minutes. A session is continuously renewed while the member is actively using ArcGIS Pro and expires 30 minutes after they stop working in the application. If the member begins using ArcGIS Pro after 30 minutes of inactivity, a new session is created."
I verified this by leaving my ArcGIS Pro opened for longer than 30 min while monitoring the License activity. A new session is indeed created. But surprisingly,
The bigger problem is that some members in my organization frequently run into the max. 3 sessions restriction and need to contact an Admin to end one of the sessions to be able to continue their work.
Even though we asked them to sign out from ArcGIS Pro when they finish a job on a certain machine or environment, active sessions seem to accumulate without really understanding how/why.
There are other posts in the community that indicate other users have been struggling with this as well. For example the Ideas post Increase license sessions for ArcGIS Pro named users.
Does anyone have a better understanding of the license activity for ArcGIS Pro via Named Users in AGOL? Is it possible that there are bugs in the License activity?
