Hi,

Below is the link for map that I tried to create using ArcGIS online.

http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?useExisting=1

My concern is

I want to display the legend in some meaningful way not the way that is shown now that is by giving some useful name Can anybody help me how to edit this legend. I tried to using arcgis explorer online but I have no clue how to do this?

Also is there any way thatto put a callout on the map if possible.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Before you upload your data the first time add a field named, SYMBOL and for each point you have chose a name you would like it to show for this feature. For example for each feature that is a facility type "Facility" in the SYMBOL field.

Now upload that layer.

Once uploaded, go to "Change Symbols" for that layer. Under "Use:" choose "Unique Symbols" and as "To show:" choose your "SYMBOL" attribute field. Now you can assign a Symbol for each attribute and it will also have a meaningful name. Click "Done Changing Symbols"

Let me know how that looks!

Hey Vijayashree,

By callout do you mean pop-up boxes? If so then this video can help you! http://video.arcgis.com/watch/1695/configuring-effective-pop_dash_up-windows

To edit your Legend, click on content, then click the dropdown box button (the little box with a triangle in it) next to your feature and choose rename. This will let you edit what it will say in your legend.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Tim my question was not renaming the legend. If anybody look at the map , the legend shows simply a red dot. Instead I want to show the users to know what that red dot means say for example PM locations or Facilities or some meaninng full name like that.  I will watch the video and see what best I can do with pop ups. Call out what I meant was click on the map something like that when somebody hovers on the map. Hope this clarifies.

Thanks once again

Did you upload your data as a zipped shapefile or did you use a CSV?

I used a zipped shaped file. Will that make a difference?

Thanks Tim it did work. Thanks once again. It has some meaning now. I am still working on some more aspects on this map. I use ESRI global account. Can I get incorporate buffer concept? I have my own doubts about this.

With an ArcGIS online organizational account you are able to create buffers in ArcGIS Online.
