Hi,

I'm new to the ArcGIS Explorer experience and would like to know if all following are possible:

   *  import shapeflles into ArcGIS Explorer Desktop
   *  export shapefiles from ArcGIS Explorer Desktop

   *  import shapeflles into ArcGIS Explorer Desktop
   *  export .nmf file for viewing in ArcGIS Explorer Online and ArcGIS.com

   * export shapefiles from ArcGIS.com
   * import shapefiles to ArcGIS Explorer Desktop

(Once an NMF file is imported in ArcGIS.com for viewing, is it possible to export the feature datasets loaded with their geometry and attribute info. from ArcGIS.com based on the NMF file used?)

What I'm trying to do is use ArcGIS Explorer desktop or ArcView to make my feature datasets, supply them to ArcGIS.com for viewing & editing & analysis by others, and then have this exported back out as feature datasets that can then be reimported back into ArcGIS Explorer desktop.
Since I don't have access to an ArcGIS Server to place my feature datasets in and then have this accessed as a service in ArcGIS.com, then what I'm trying to do is create a workaround as such.

I was reading about some new data interoperability capabilities coming for ArcGIS.com. Does this mean I could import my own shapefiles (feature datasets) into ArcGIS.com?  Also I read about WFS (Web Feature Service) whereby vector geometry and attribute info. can be ported and served. Would ArcGIS.com have the capability now to import from any WFS service like GeoServer for example or is this coming.

Right now I cannot use ArcGIS Explorer Desktop on my Mac using Parallels since my video card is to old and thus cannot experiment with some of the above till I get my hands on an updated PC that can.

Thanks to any who can answer or help me come up with a solution for moving feature datasets around and between ArcGIS Explorer Desktop and ArcGIS.com.

Much appreciated,
Fred
