We have several web maps setup for data collection through field maps. We noticed while bringing data back into Civil 3D that the Z value units were different on several data sets.
After digging, we found that the units on the Z value in a handful of the feature layers had somehow changed to feet rather than meters.
Our understanding is this cant be changed in AGOL, but we're looking for a way to change the units back to Meters without losing all of our visualization settings.
You should be able to do that by bring the layer into ArcGIS Pro.
You can either create a new Z value attribute and convert the values from meters to feet or change the projection.
@Ed_ I did bring the layer into ArcGIS Pro through the portal and was able to update the Z units. I was unable to push it back to AGOL without overwriting the layer which resulted in losing all of the visualization settings. Do you know of a way to push it back to AGOL without wiping out visualization?
Usually when you bring the hosted layer directly into Pro like without bringing it into the geodatabase, and then make changes to the attribute table, then the updates should show on AGOL as well.
One thing you can also do is that create your plots (if that's what you mean by visualization) in Pro, then when you'll publish the layer, the charts/plots will also be carried over to AGOL.

That has not occurred in this case, possibly because we are only modifying the units but am not sure. Screen shot below is the only place I could find to adjust the elevation units. The "Z" doesn't show up in the attribute table for some reason.
That's interesting as the other day i was using the `Add GPS Metadata Fields` tool in Pro on an AGOL layer, and the tool updated the layer's attribute table without having to republish it.
You can use the following tool to get the Z values in any units you want in the attribute table.

Another way to change the units would be to reproject the layer from meter to feet using the Project tool, but that would give you a new feature class when you will then have publish to AGOL.
Also i think changing units in layer properties does it on the fly for the map itself, it doesn't changes the units permanently.
