Getting Edits to Stick

I have added a feature service to my arcgis.com map. The edit options show up for the service but the edits wont stick. For example I add a polygon by clicking to add vertices but as soon as I double click to finish it disappears. Changing the field values in an existing feature never transfer to the actual feature in the database.

The edits stick in every other application just not arcgis.com.

How do I get the edits to stick?

I did get it to work but I am not sure if it was an accident or a real fix.

When I first imported my feature service layer it was through a local URL ht tp://server/arcgis.... Later I set up an external URL ht tp://davismaps.dyndns.org/arcigs...

Using the external URL seemed to fix the problem; I am able to create, edit, and delete features just fine.

I hope that helps

Ben

***Sub Note***
One of the most frustrating problems I encountered with this process was getting the external URL to work inside my office. I couldn't see the features or access any of them with the external  URL and because I brought them into arcgis.com with the external URL using the local URL didn't work.

So what I had to do was the computers in my office to recognize the external URL as the local URL. This was only a problem for me because our router couldn't handle loop backs so using the external URL from inside the network confused the router.

Here is a link in case anyone reading this has the same problem

I will give that a try.  I am adding from my local.  I have a hunch that should work.  Funny that it will let me delete but not anything else.

Thank you for the reply.

The service has to be externally accessible. I suspect the delete didn't actually work. It may have looked like it was removed, but maybe if you refresh your browser, it would return.

Thanks,

Mike
