Dear all,
I am working on installing ESRI Portal for ArcGIS 10.4.1 with high availability and I have done it as follows
Installed Portal in first machine and authorised the software
Installed Portal on the second machine and authorised the software.
However, when I try to join the first Portal from the second I get an error message indicating that I need to check the logs.
On inspecting the logs I find a series of messages that include
- Validating the input parameters for join site work flow
- Generating token from primary machine for join site work flow
- Generated token from primary machine for join site work flow
- Getting machines count from primary portal machine
- Succesfully obtained machines count from primary portal machine
- Join site initialization failed
- Join site failed; reverting join site configuration on local machine.
- Starting process monitor.
- The process monitor did not find the connection to the configuration store. The site may not have been initialised. After the site is initialised, the check for database processes will be reattempted.
- Starting watchdog thread run.

Does anyone know what causes this?
I am installing Portal on 2 virtual machines running windows 2008 standard R2
Any suggestions will be much appreciated,

At 10.6 we write the actual log message to the log files. Prior to that, they're not written there, unfortunately. What is the actual error message returned in the home app? Is it only that you need to check the logs?
