I need to use a vector contour line dataset to make maps of the first and second derivatives of elevation. I have attempted to do this by making a DEM from the contour lines using the topo to raster tool, and then using the slope and curvature tools with the DEM to make the first and second derivative maps respectively. The problem is that these maps are badly terraced, with the contour lines still being visible. I am comparing these values at different points, and this terracing is preventing me from doing so. How can I eliminate this terracing?
