Efficient alternative to setting a reference scale in ArcGIS Online

Hi everyone,

I have been advised my ESRI support that it's not possible to set a map reference scale in AGOL.  The suggested workaround was to go into each Feature Class and change the Visibility Range for each zoom scale. 

However, if I want the line to thin as I zoom out on each middle mouse wheel increment (and vice versa), using this method, I would need to create at least 7 copies of each FC, each with an incremental visibility range to encompass my required zoom range (highlighted below):

I want these line to be very thin, zoomed this far out. 

Is there a more efficient method to make the lines a real-world consistent thickness?  I have ArcPro 3.x and also have access to FME.  Thanks.
