Can't create joined view to child table

Hello, I am not sure if this is a Survey123 issue or a general AGOL issue.

I have a simple table that is used as a child table in a Survey123 Connect survey (the child table is used for repeat functionality in the survey).

I need to join a polygon layer to this child table (1:M, left join), but when I try to create a hosted joined view layer from the poly layer, I get a "The view layer could not be created" message. I get the same message when I try other join settings, such as 1:1, inner join, etc.

All layer names are short, using only alphanumeric characters (no spaces or underscores), and the metadata definition for the poly layer is blank, as instructed on this page and in this post.

I am at a loss as to how to resolve this. Any ideas appreciated!

You could possibly try creating the join in arc pro then export the joined feature class. It will make the class a hardcopy instead of a join but you could update it regularly if needed, just extra work but it's a workaround.

Thanks so much for the reply! I really need the join to be dynamic so it can update map symbology automatically.

I think building custom map symbology expressions using Arcade might be another route to try - I was just hoping there would be a simpler solution.
