Attribute search in AGOL map viewer

Greetings,

This is surely a supremely stupid question, but can someone help me understand why I and my viewers cannot search for attributes in AGOL?

I have gone into settings here:

And then I went to "enable search" here:

From there, I added the layers and specific fields I want my viewers to be able to search, and turned off the search "by address." And yet every time I do a test search I end up at some address on the other side of the world, instead of getting any results from my data.

Do I just need to create an app that has some widget that allows an attribute field search? I'm behind the game on online mapping in general because we didn't use it in my work until recently. I clearly need to take some classes to figure out some of the function but I'd love a quick solution to this so my viewers can use the map that's already posted. I tried creating an app but it's not as intuitive as I expected and I will need to take some time to learn how to do that to suit our needs.

Thank you!!

Hi, Cody,

They are feature layers. I just re-created the map and everything is working great now. Thanks for chiming in!

Hey @AvaFarouche

From looking at your setup, I cannot immediately tell that anything is wrong, would you be able to copy and paste a ParcelID that you're wanting to search for into the window and then send a screenshot of the results?

Thanks, Cody!

So, now, of course, it seems to be working! For the most part. I guess I just re-set the settings and re-saved the map enough times it finally took ...? The only thing that is not working now is that I added a layer to the map and it will not pick that one up when I "add layers" to the search settings. I think I will just need to re-create and post the map because I added it a couple of days ago and have re-saved and re-done everything so many times and it just won't pick up that layer.

Hey @AvaFarouche

Glad it's working to some extent! Are these layers feature layers or possibly map image layers? Feature Layers may be the best to work with in terms of query-ability.
