Adding Layer from file with .csv file

Previous files added to an earlier map will not now work on a new map.  I keep getting the message "File does not seem to contain fields with point coordinates".  I have tried to attach the .csv file and I keep getting a message "invalid file".

After a lot of frustration, with things sometime working and sometime not, I am blaming my wasted half day on the solar flares from the sun!!!!
