I have a point layer with a related table that I published from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Online. I now need to add a field to the standalone related table. When I go to the table's Overview page, then the data tab, the add field button which is usually there is missing.  I have gone around and around and can't seem to figure out why this is. I am trying very hard not to reupload the data from Pro since I now have associated dashboards and maps from the data and that woudl (to my understanding) change the feature service ID (and break all those connections).

I am pulling my hair out on this one. Any advice is appreciated.  Thank you.

Is the standalone table a DBF or stored in a Geodatabase?

The Schema (fields) of CSV and XLSX cannot be edited in ArcGIS Pro. Have you tried importing the standalone table into a geodatabase?

If the data is in the Geodatabase, the Relate may enforce a schema lock on the table. Remove the Relate, add the field, then configure the Relate again. Or, better yet, set up a Relationship Class in the GDB?

Thank you for the response. I realize my issue may not have been clear. To clarify, I now have the data in a Feature Service on ArcGIS Online with a related table. It's a long story, but I had a feature service from a Survey123 Form, needed to add a repeat (related table), so I downloaded it to a FGDB, added the table and relate in Pro, then published it to AGOL as a new Feature Service (per ESRI troubleshooting instructions). I got all the forms that use that Feature Layer directed to the new feature service and rebuilt a couple dashboards and some maps, and things are back in a good place. Now I'm just trying to add a simple string field to the related table (or even to the main feature table). I would rather not have to rebuild the Feature Service (and do all that rebuilding) again if I don't have to.

Are you clicking on the Menu, then trying to select "Add Field" from the options? I don't see an "Add Field" Button in the Data View of the Feature Service Item page.

Thank you. That is the missing button/option. Some of my feature services have it there and as a standalone button on the fields view. 😊

I understand. The only thing I can think of is a permissions issue, but I assume you are logged in as the item owner. Have you tried pulling in the service to ArcGIS Pro via the ArcGIS Online connection, then using the Data Designer to add the field?

Really appreciate the help on this one. I am the item owner, so I don't think it's a permissions issue. I mean, I made the darn thing! (like most technology, I created it but it, in fact, owns me 😆)

I pulled the table into Pro and it will let me add a field there, but the field never saves and doesn't show in the AGOL table.

It's no problem. I know how these things can add so much time to seemingly simple projects. That is all I can think of unless you missed clicking the save button at the top of the Ribbon in ArcGIS Pro.
