I think ESRI should definitely look into making their Portal, Open Data pages and/or Hub products compatible with the markup languages that lead to dataset discovery. While the Google dataset search is seemingly getting a majority of the attention in this realm, it is not just a Google project. They're working with other organizations to standardize dataset metadata encoding, as mentioned here: Home - schema.org. It would be excellent if the metadata we add to our datasets via ArcGIS products could be easily harvested by these dataset search engines.
