Implement support for alternate scale-based symbols in ArcGIS Online/WebMaps

In ArcGIS Pro, it is possible to add alternate symbols for a set of unique value-derived symbols to allow for different symbology for a given class at different scale ranges. Can support for this be added for ArcGIS online and Webmap Hosted Feature Layers?

I would like to display a polygon layer with five data classes with zero transparency at small scales and then 50% transparency at larger scales. It works great in Pro but when shared as a hosted feature layer to ArcGIS Online, the layer is displayed correctly only at the larger scales. The layer's symbology turns off in the properties window and on the map. Can scale-based polygon transparency be managed in ArcGIS Online using Arcade?
