Hosted Feature Layer Views enable views to be created between feature layers, and between feature layers and tables - but have the restriction that the user must be the owner of both sides of the view.
We would like to be able to extend the information available on some publicly available feature layers. For example we could extend the ESRI World Countries Layer by creating a hosted table with a couple of fields such as 'Population' and 'Cost of Cheese' and then Join the table to the ESRI World Countries layer on the Country Code.
This would be extremely useful as it would mean that we would only need to maintain the new data that is specific to us. At this point, the only way that we could maintain this information would be to maintain a full duplicate of the world countries layer dataset - which is highly inefficient and time consuming. It requires requires that duplicate data be maintained even when the user has read access to an authorative feature layer from the originating organisation.
The value of the Hosted Feature Layer Views feature would be significant increased if it did not require the user to own both side of the view - read-only access to the hosted feature layer should be sufficient.
