Cross posted to the Enterprise page.

I feel kind of bad because I've suggested other people use this workflow in the past, and then this morning I actually tried to do it and it's impossible on both AGOL and Enterprise.

I'd like to be able to set Forms for Field Maps from the default visualization tab of the item details page.

For example, if I have a layer that's going in 10 different web maps (e.g. each user makes his own map to go into the field), I want to 1) make sure that each user is collecting the same data and 2) only configure the forms once.

Tool bar in default VisualizationToolbar in Map Viewer

Please add in the ability to set default forms on the visualization tab of Item details.

Hi @AlfredBaldenweck

thanks for sharing your idea!

Support for creating forms on the visualization tab is on our future roadmap, but it is still quite a ways off.

In the mean time, you can save a form to a layer for re-use across other maps using the following steps:

  1. Open the layer in Map Viewer
  2. Create the form in the form builder window
  3. Close the form builder
  4. In the Layers pane, click to open the Options menu for the layer (...)
  5. Click 'Save'
  6. This saves the form to the layer so that anytime you add the layer to another map, the form is already configured.

You can find information about this and more in this article: 5 Tips for Editing Made Easy.

Hope that helps!

Good to know, thanks!
