ArcGIS Online- Map Viewer- Filter Expression option for 'Within the Current Year'

Hello AGOL Team, 

In Map Viewer it appears there is is no filter option for "within the current year". Our organization desperately need this (as I'm sure many others do as well). For some of our production projects we have filters set to the current year, and every year we have to manually go into these web maps and update the year/date in the filter.

Please consider adding a filter for "within the current year". 

 

In addition, please note the difference in variety of filter options between Map Viewer and even ArcGIS Dashboards. Please consider filter equivalency between the two platforms:

Date Only support in filtering was added in 11.3 and then with relative filters will be coming in 11.4 enterprise release.  We added support for this in ArcGIS Online in the June 2024 release.

@RussRoberts Can you clarify the current status for this Idea. Here is my understanding below based on your last comment.

 

  • Date Time field in Portal/ArcGIS Online -> No support for filtering to current year
  • Date Only field in Portal 11.3 and ArcGIS Online (including portal features collaborated to AGO) -> Support for filtering to current year

Support for

  • Date-Time(classic date field type) relative time filters "in the last year" supported on hosted and non hosted services in AGO.
    • Non hosted layers must be 
      • Min server version 10.9.1
      • Must have standardized queries enabled
    • 11.4 Bringing same support as above. Pre 11.4 was hosted only feature services on the portal.
  • Date Only relative date filters
    • Support added 11.4

@RussRoberts Thank you for such a quick response. I'd like to point out that this ArcGIS Idea is for being able to filter to current year and not necessarily just support for relative time filters (which are still an amazing addition).

 

With an 11.2.1 ArcGIS Server feature service in ArcGIS Online (standardize queries enabled) I am only able to do "In the last" and "not in the last" queries for a date-time field, which does not allow me to specifically filter to the current year.

 

With that I'll assume that this feature is still on the horizon and will wait eagerly for its arrival.
