We recently transitioned from using ArcGIS Location Platform to an ArcGIS Online organizational account. One of the key differences we've noticed is the lack of granular reporting for API key usage in ArcGIS Online compared to what was available in Location Platform.
ArcGIS Location Platform was designed with API keys, PAYG billing, and detailed usage logging in mind. In contrast, ArcGIS Online treats API keys similarly to other items (e.g., Feature Services), and reporting is credit-based rather than usage-based. This makes it difficult to track and manage API key consumption with the same level of insight.
We’d like to propose an enhancement to ArcGIS Online that brings its API key reporting capabilities in line with those of Location Platform. Specifically:
- More detailed usage metrics per API key
- Clearer logging of requests and consumption
- Better support for teams managing multiple keys across services
This would greatly benefit users migrating from Location Platform and help organizations better manage and optimize their API usage.
