Hi,
in AGOL it should be possible to limit usage for any kind of service (also WMS, WMTS, WFS, ...) in order to use (restricted) services in public maps without making the service itself accessible for everyone. This is already possible for Esri Feature Services but not for e.g. OGC Services. This should be independent of whether the service needs credentials or not.
