How do I edit an ArcServer / AGO web app's URL w/o breaking it?

Hi all -

I'm running an ArcServer Service. I used AGO to create a pretty web app. I'd like to roll it out to my agency but the URL is ugly. I've tried editing it, but then it doesn't work. How do I do this?

Thanks in advance!

You can use a service like Bitly - The Power of the Link  to generate a short pretty version of a url.

You can use the embed code from the map to insert into an HTML webpage that you host on your agency's server.

That way, you can make it whatever you'd like within your agency's domain.

Hi Erik/Ryan/PJ - I can't find that embed code for a web app. Could you tell me where it is?

Quickly poking, I didn't see the embed option with web aps like with web maps...

However, you can still employ an iframe using the URL of your app in your own webpage.

See the following blog:

Embedding Story Maps into websites and blogs | ArcGIS Blog

You may or may not be embedding a story map, but the same technique would be true for other types of apps from AGO.
