Hey,

can please somebody send or allocate the Network Analyst Tutorial Data?

"Ask your system administrator for the correct path to the tutorial data if you do not find it at the default
installation path (C:\ArcGIS\ArcTutor\Network Analyst\Tutorial)" don't help be because i have no ArcTutor Data at all.

I tried to download it from ESRI but it didn't work.

I need it for a seminarthesis which i have to present in january 2013 so it will be very nice that somebody could help me

best regards

EDIT:
In my project i need to model the accessibility of 33 public transport stops (accessibility for pedestrians). That means i need the street data from the Open Street Map to build a street network and i need the stops which i also have for the service area. So i add a new field to the street data and with the field calculator i calculated [Shape_Length]*60/3000 to get the Minutes for the Pedestrian Time.

i tried it a few times, but there is something wrong in my network because the polygons of the pedestrian time are not dealing with network itsself.

Chris,

You are welcome. You might consider reading through the details on how service areas are generated at the Help.

Try reading similar forums posts to gain understanding of the polygon generation:

If this is not enough you are welcome to do the customized search. In your case you might limit your google search just to Esri forums.

Finally, don't forget to rate posts that are helpful/mark best post as answer.

Hi Chris,

The ArcTutor tutorial data is available for anyone who has obtained any ArcGIS Desktop license and is available for download via Customer Care Portal.

I tried to download it from ESRI but it didn't work.

How do you mean? 🙂

Customer Care Portal --> i guess it's not possible for student licenses because i have no access...

but maybe you can help me by looking at my edit in the opening post 🙂

Right, you are supposed to contact a person who is responsible for licensing at your organizations. Unfortunately, I don't think the ArcTutor is available for download from the Esri web site.

Regarding the street network editing:
1. Take a look at the guide on using OSM data in ArcGIS available via ArcGIS OSM Editor page.

2. Go through a really good tutorial on how network dataset can be built from scratch to get the understanding of the concepts.

Chris,

You can download the tutorial data from the ArcGIS for Desktop Free Trial site. Login using your Esri Global account. You'll receive a new trial Authorization number which can be ignored (you've already authorized your seat of ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced), and you also will have access to download the installer for ArcGIS Tutorial Data for Desktop (~1.70 GB) for download.

When downloaded and installed, the Network Analyst tutorial data will be installed along with data for all other tutorials. Default location is into C:\arcgis\ArcTutor

You access the tutorial workbooks from the ArcGIS Desktop 10 Help -> Essentials Library found on your Windows start menu. Or, online at http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/00qn/00qn0000013t000000.htm

Hey Stuart,

thank you for your advice.

i followed the tipps alexey gave me before (to repair the bad geometry - thanks for that), no i have junctions everywhere which makes the routing accurate.

But in case, i'm not that happy with the service area output, there are kinks and edges i can't explain.

best regards
