Recently, our team began testing/evaluating the Navigator for ArcGIS application on an iPad. Here is our list of noted issues or quirks with so far. Has anyone else reached similar conclusions about the functionality for this product?
I'm curious to know if Esri has any plans to address any of these items, or if they have been reported as undesirable behaviors by others who use the application. Several of the commonly-used navigation apps on the iOS and Android markets do not seem to have these limitations.
Thanks in advance for any feedback/comments you're willing to share about your experiences with Navigator!
William,
New version of Navigator is in the works... might be best to check out the Beta https://community.esri.com/groups/navigator-for-arcgis-beta
Some of your observations have been addressed, would be good to get your feedback.
Thanks,
Mark
Mark, we tested the Beta version and you're right.... it seems to address the observations I presented above. It behaves much better and much more like what we'd expect from a mobile navigation app. Thank you for pointing us in that direction.
What is Esri's timeline for replacing the existing Navigator with the current Beta version?
William,
We are in Beta 3 now and we are evaluating feedback. We do have a few things that we are still working on, but it's really about quality, we aren't driven to release a final non-beta version by a specific date. It sounds like beta 3 is meeting your needs, and that's definitely the type of feedback we want to hear.
That said, we do need to call it final soon... as we have to get working on the next version
Thanks,
Mark
Willliam,
Our plan is to have the final release out before the Esri User Conference in July but as Mark states the iOS version of the app is pretty much feature complete we are just dialing in the quality now in beta. Android will follow shortly as we are just getting the last few feature into that beta as you read this.
Thanks for the great feedback and your help testing the beta,
-Brent
