I'm having an issue with one of several monitored (2024.1.1) ArcGIS Server sites, where one of the sites is returning infrastructure metrics but no longer returning ArcGIS Server metrics.  When I go to the Observers page for that site, the "Metrics - ArcGIS Server" observer is showing "no data" and the log returns "Failed to read ArcGIS Server usage report".

This site was working properly up until I patched (OS and ArcGIS Server) on the two ArcGIS Server VM machines and the associated web adapter VM machine last night.

The other ArcGIS Server sites are being monitored properly after the patching, just this one is misbehaving.

Any tips on how to troubleshoot this?

Hi @Royce_Simpson,

Can you please try the following to try and troubleshoot:

  • Stop the AM Agent running on the host
  • Delete any status reports for the ArcGIS Server site via its ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory
  • Restart the AM Agent

Hope this helps,

We have a solution!  Per the advice from another thread here, I deleted like 20,000 old statistics files (\\myarcgisserversite\directories\arcgissystem\statistics).  Unregistered the ArcGIS Server component for the affected site in Monitor.  Deleted the usage reports for the site (https://myarcgisserversite.mydomain.org/arcgis/admin/usagereports).  Reregistered the ArcGIS Server site and bam, all the metrics fired back up.

This seems to have solved it.  Thanks @DerekLaw

Hi @DerekLaw @Royce_Simpson

I have a similar issue in Monitor. How can I see the 'status report' from the server site via REST api?

I can see the usage reports, is that what you meant?

Thanks Thomas

Hi @Thomas_Puthusserry,

How can I see the 'status report' from the server site via REST api?

Please login to the ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory of your ArcGIS Server site.
(e.g., https://[hostname].[domain].com/arcgis/admin/login)

Then navigate to SiteRoot > usagereports.

You should see a list of reports on this page.

Hope this helps,

Hi @DerekLaw .  I'm having this issue again and and tried your steps as well as unregistering the ArcGIS Server site and registering.  The Inventory and Logs observers are working properly but the Metrics observer is reporting "no data".

I'm getting the following error logs:

Hi @Royce_Simpson,

I'm sorry you're running into this issue again. And I am unsure what the cause might be.

Any chance you could upgrade your Monitor instance to the 2025.0 release to see if this resolves?

Yes.  I've got the 2025 install files.  Will get 'er updated.

Hi @DerekLaw .  No dice.  Of the three ArcGIS Enterprise sites being Monitored, it's only this one that is having this issue.

Additionally, with version 2025.0, I'm now unable to get one of my hosts working properly.  The new agent service on that server won't start and stay running  (out of 17 hosts being monitored).  Interestingly, that server is the web adapter/web server for the site that I'm struggling with, as noted in my original issue above in this thread.  Not sure if there is any correlation.  However, as of now, that web adapter/web server host isn't registered with Monitor (since I can't get the agent service to stay running), so it appears that I can treat these as two different and isolated issues.
