Hi,

We have installed and configured the ArcGIS Monitor 2023 and wanted to know whether the below list of capabilities/functionalities are included in ArcGIS Monitor 2023 or not:-

1. System Log Parser for IIS - parses IIS logs, Collects geoinfo, usage metrics, and hosted services requests
2. EgdbDataStore - used to monitor statistics for the ArcGIS Data Store
3. RDP Counter - Used to monitor active and inactive sessions
4. Excel Report - allows us to schedule automated reports to summarize statistics from the MongoDB database
5. WinEvent - parses the counts of errors, critical, and warnings in the Windows Event logs of the target system
6. Portal - how to monitor storage quota

Thanks,

Ayush

Hi @AYUSHYADAV,

1. System Log Parser for IIS - parses IIS logs, Collects geoinfo, usage metrics, and hosted services requests
3. RDP Counter - Used to monitor active and inactive sessions
5. WinEvent - parses the counts of errors, critical, and warnings in the Windows Event logs of the target system

These three items are not currently available in ArcGIS Monitor 2023. We're in the process of assessing and priortizing which ArcGIS Monitor 10.8.1 add-ins should be incorporated into Monitor 2023. Can you please elaborate on how these add-ins support your business workflows?

> 2. EgdbDataStore - used to monitor statistics for the ArcGIS Data Store
> 6. Portal - how to monitor storage quota

Some of the functionality of the eGDB add-in - specifically registering and monitoring databases and geodatabases are not part of core Monitor 2023 functionality. For your item 6, storage quota - content in an enterprise portal is stored behind the scenes in the ArcGIS Data Store - hence why I grouped items 2 and 6 together. We do have an open enhancement request to add support for registering and monitoring the ArcGIS Data Store. Can you please elaborate: what kind of data metrics are you looking to get about the ArcGIS Data Store - beyond user storage info?

> 4. Excel Report - allows us to schedule automated reports to summarize statistics from the MongoDB database

In ArcGIS Monitor 2023, the Analysis capability - where you can build your own custom expressions to generate data visualizations is a new workflow for "reporting" in Monitor. Do you specifically want the ability to export data metrics into an Excel Report? Can you please elaborate on your workflow?

Also ArcGIS Monitor 2023 does not use Mongo DB as its database, it now uses PostgreSQL. So you could extract the data metrics from PostgreSQL directly.

Hope this helps,

Hi @DerekLaw ,

Thank you! so much for your response.

To answer your questions:-

a) How does System Log Parser for IIS, RDP Counter, WinEvent support your business workflows?

Ans). We are looking to get the below-following metrics:-

  1. System Log Parser for IIS - It gives us all the HTTP response codes for the services. Additionally, we can analyze the performance of each service based on the response time, and accordingly we can tune the performance of that service
  2. RDP Counter - As it gives us the total no. of active/inactive and total sessions. The more no. of users active on the ArcGIS Enterprise will consume more CPU, RAM, Disk, and network and hence it will affect the performance of the ArcGIS enterprise environment.
  3. WinEvent - As it parses the counts of errors, critical, and warnings in the Windows Event logs of the target system. It will help us in mitigating the critical system errors which can create issues and affect the performance of the ArcGIS enterprise machine

b) Can you please elaborate: on what kind of data metrics are you looking to get about the ArcGIS Data Store?

Ans) We are looking to get the below-following metrics:-

  1. Machine overall health,
  2. Status - started/stopped/transitional state,
  3. Role - primary/standby
  4. Errors - if any

c) Do you specifically want the ability to export data metrics into an Excel Report? Can you please elaborate on your workflow?

Ans). Yes, we want to export data metrics into an excel report which will be used to analyze performance trends over time, identify performance issues, and optimize system resources. Additionally, it will help us in tracking changes over time, identify areas for improvement, and share with others.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks

Ayush

Hi @AYUSHYADAV

Thanks for the answers and details on the data metrics you're interested in. This really helps us better understand use cases.

On this comment for the Excel Report,

> ... we want to export data metrics into an excel report which will be used to analyze performance trends over time, identify performance issues, and optimize system resources. Additionally, it will help us in tracking changes over time, identify areas for improvement, and share with others.

We're hoping that many of these tasks could be performed by configuring the appropriate expression queries in the Analysis tab. Are you wanting to do these tasks exclusively in MS Excel?

Thanks,

Hi @DerekLaw ,

Thanks, for your response!

To answer your question. Are you wanting to do these tasks exclusively in MS Excel?

Yes, we want to do these tasks exclusively in MS Excel as in MS Excel reports are easy to manage and share with stakeholders. Additionally, It is there in version 10.8.1 so it will not require any extra effort/learning curve to generate the reports.

Thanks
