Hey everyone.

Does anybody know where you can get shapefiles of the major regions and continents of the world in WGS 1984 (or system than can easily be converted to WGS 1984 or sinusoidal sphere)).

I list them below, just for you to get an idea about how big the scale I need is.

Africa

South east asia

Rest of asia

Oceania

East europe

rest of europe

central america

So far I have only found country level data in WGS 1984. The regional/continental data has been in format where it wasn't so eay to convert and the data has been quite coarse. It would be prefereably if the data as relatively precise.

Thank you very much!

Best regards

Ditlev

There is this item on ArcGIS Online which you can download: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=a3cb207855b348a297ab85261743351d However, since East and Rest of Europe is not a continent you will only find Europe as a single feature. You will need country level information of Europe, assign "east" and "rest" and dissolve to get these polygons. Then replace Europe from the continent dataset and add the two parts of Europe.

List where you have looked to save people the trouble of repeating what you have done.

Thank you very much Xander, that is perfect. I think for south east asia, i will draw the boundary myself as good as I can.

Dan,

Sorry I guess you are right. But I had looked through so many webpages, and I guess I just throught that maybe someone knew of the requested data off hand.
