The agency charged with national mapping in Indonesia—the largest archipelagic country in the world—is the Geospatial Information Agency (Badan Informasi Geospasial [BIG]). The agency is mandated to provide an implementation strategy and funding for basemaps from 1:1,000,000 to 1:1,000 scale so that every institution can share geospatial data.
“Through a GIS approach, the country and people of Indonesia will get more benefits from geospatial data. Partnering with a company as strong in GIS development as Esri ensures that our systems will be integrated and we can share information.”
