ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World provides foundation elevation layers and tools to support analysis and visualization across the ArcGIS system. These layers get updated quarterly with high resolution elevation data from federal agencies, open sources, and community maps program. World elevation layers have been updated with many high-resolution elevation datasets.

Land use/land cover (LULC) maps are a valuable tool for decision-makers at local, regional, and national levels around the world. Performing change analysis on a series of LULC maps over time can help to quantify and better understand the impacts of earth processes and human activity on our environment.

Through the Living Atlas partnership with Impact Observatory, the annual Sentinel-2 10m Land Use/Land Cover Time Series has been updated with new data from 2023, expanding the time series to include global coverage from 2017-2023.

The Sentinel-2 Land Cover Explorer, one of the Living Atlas ready-to-use-apps, has also been updated.

A vital part of the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is the availability of public charging stations and whether that supply meets EV demand. The Electric Vehicle Charging Stations layer in ArcGIS Living Atlas can help support your EV-focused analysis, including the ratio of EVs to charging stations and EV adoption by state.

Landsat Level-2 multispectral and multitemporal imagery is a is a critical tool for organizations that must track, and document land use and land change associated with climate change, urbanization, drought, wildfire, deforestation, and other natural processes and human activity. This collection is found in Living Atlas and sourced from the Microsoft Planetary Computer Landsat Collection 2 Level-2 data catalog on Azure.

The newly udated Landsat Explorer app leverages ArcGIS capabilities to provide an easy and compelling way to explore and unlock the wealth of information that Landsat provides.

In collaboration with the US Geological Survey (USGS),the Living Atlas team recently updated Esri’s online USGS historical topographic map collection with over 1,745 new maps, bringing the total number of maps in the collection to over 181,000.

These maps are part of the USGS Historical Topographic Map Collection (HTMC) which includes all the historical topographic quadrangle maps (quads) that had been printed since the USGS was established in 1879.

It is easy to explore and download these maps, or quickly create an ArcGIS Online map, using the recently updated Historical Topo Map Explorer app. The app provides a visual interface to search and explore the historical maps by geographic extent, publication year, and map scale.

The U.S. Census Bureau publishes a special tabulation of the American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year estimates – the Citizen Voting Age Population (CVAP) by race and ethnicity – every year for the Department of Justice.

These Living Atlas layers have recently been updated, including changes to boundaries. They're important for studying voting requirements, identifying discriminatory practices and procedures, voting rights analysis, and voter turnout analysis.
