Is there a list of acceptable street type abbreviations (rd, way, blvd etc...) when using ArcGIS World Geocoding Service?  For example how do I type interstate/highway name to get a valid match?  Do I type hwy 40, 40 hwy, I-40.  Any documentation would be helpful

@Anonymous User ,

The input address format should correspond to the postal specifications of the country you are geocoding addresses in. For the USA refer to the following publication from the USPS for acceptable street type abbreviations, https://pe.usps.com/text/pub28/28apc_002.htm. Regarding the interstate/highway name, "Hwy 40" and "I-40" are typical formats and inputs outside of this standard may not match or have a low score.

Hi @Anonymous User,

I'm not an expert on the geocoder, but this doc might help. https://developers.arcgis.com/rest/geocode/api-reference/geocoding-find-address-candidates.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_DC481411A8494D809D3501B79059DBA6

I am interested in your use case and data model. Are you using places/place names/POIS along a highway as entities and using the geocoding service to enrich those entities with location properties lat/longs? Are you doing that as part of an ETL process prior to loading the data into the graph?

Best,

Adam
