How to set renderer to Feature Collection?

I am using feature collection to use my own data from database. So, i use feature collection for my feature Layer. So, i see feature collection working for picture marker symbol which is simply loading picture marker on position. However, I want to visualize with simplerenderer with visualVariables. 

but it is not working. any of rendering such as dot density, unique value renderer...
