Hi,

I have a map with several layers loaded. I am able to print the same thank you to this forum. Now i need to export the contents of the map to an image. User should have option of selecting the type of image they want.

Has anyone done this or is there helpful materials i can use?

Thanks.

Create your print dijit with multiple print templates. Using multiple print templates, you'll get a drop down button that allows the user to select the output format.

Hi Derek,

Thank you for the response.

I am using Version: 10.03 of arcgis server which does not support that functionality. Could you be having a method used before the realease of version 10.1?

Thank you in advance.

You can hit the export url for a map service directly and specify an output format. Examples...

PNG:  http://sampleserver1.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Demographics/ESRI_Census_USA/MapServer/ex...

PDF:  http://sampleserver1.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Demographics/ESRI_Census_USA/MapServer/ex...

The "format" query string parameter is the key to doing this.

That URL is no longer available.  Would it be possible to post the code.  I know it's been awhile.
