All features are shown despite alterting date range

I have 2 layers, both have a definition query within the MXD. Layer 1: INCTYPE = 'ASLT' Layer 2: INCTYPE = 'ROBB' or INCTYPE = 'BURG' or INCTYPE = 'THFT'
When I use the website to change the date range to display, Layer 1 displays correctly, but Layer 2 still shows all features, and changing the date range does not affect this layer. Any ideas?
