I have a sidebar app that our county spray shop is using to track all of the roads that they spray for weeds.

They will go spray about 50 roads that are all in one neighborhood a day.

Instead of using the edit widget to update the spray status for one road at a time, is there a way for them to select by lasso and field calculate the status for all 50 roads at once?

The status is a drop down menu, for example:

*Need to spray

*Sprayed.

They also enter the date and select the name of the worker who sprayed.

They would need to be able to field calculate those three things.

I am trying to avoid having them use ArcPro and would like them to be able to do web based bulk edits based on a selection.

The workflow would need to be based on them selecting on a map, and not selecting from a table, because there isn't an efficient way to sort the table to do a selection for bulk editing.

Hi @L77

Thanks for reaching out about this. Batch editing was recently added in the Sidebar and Manager templates. You can access the batch editing tools in Sidebar in the editing tool and in Manager there is an edit multiple button that populates when multiple features are selected in the app.

I'd also recommend checking out this editing in Instant Apps blog that was recently published - https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/instant-apps/mapping/editing-in-arcgis-instant-apps It covers editing capabilities in all the Instant Apps templates that support editing.

Thanks!

Hi @L77

That is great to hear that the new edit tools are working well.

Unfortunately, there is a limit with the edit tools and will need to switch back to the "pan" tool in the edit panel. I have made a note of this and it is something that we are going to look into. Thanks for bringing this up, I agree that it is not straight forward how to switch from editing to viewing pop-ups.

Thanks again!

@SarahMcDonald_Esri We have been testing the new edit tools and they are working well.

We are confused on how to get out of edit mode once we start editing.

When we used web app builder, exiting the edit widget or clicking on something in the layer list, or a filter, or a search (basically doing any action that isn't editing) would take it out of edit mode.

In instant apps, once we are in edit mode after we click save edits, if we click the x in the top right corner of the edit window it doesn't take it out of edit mode. I was hoping it would put it back into pan mode.

The only way I could figure out how to get out of edit mode was to click the panning hand symbol in the edit widget, or to refresh the browser.

Is there another way to do it? Or could you configure the app to go back to pan mode after we x out of the edit widget.

Also, after we x out of the edit widget, if I click on another point I would like the info box to open up, but it doesn't and I have to click on the info button on the left pane to get the info button to pop up.
