Currently in ArcGIS Online Instant Apps, there is an option to turn on and off the Layer List. I would like to see the ability to control which map layers show up in this list. For example, I have a layer that I want to show up in the results of the instant app (zone finder) results in a certain way (black outline for resulted polygons for example). But I also want the user to have the ability to turn this same layer on to view the entire layer at a regional layer, but with a different symbology that works better for regional view. If I add my layer into the map twice, both versions show up in the layer list. I just want the regional view (with symbology by field for example) to have the ability to toggle on and off, not the one with black outlines for the sake of the zone finder results.
So if I could choose which layers are in the Layer List, then I can customize it for more functionality and clearer user experience.
beyond crazy that this functionality isn't available
If I understand the workflow correctly you'd want this to behave the way that the legend behaves in Instant Apps if the "Show in map legend" option is disabled in the ArcGIS Online Map Viewer is that correct?
The way that works is that if its disabled in the map viewer the layer will appear in the map but it will not appear in the legend. So in your case if we applied this to the layer list too you could choose to exclude the outline layer from the legend and layer list but the symbolized layer would still appear in both so users could toggle the layer visibility?
