Hi Team,
We're loving the Atlas template, it works really well with ArcGIS Hub, and can't wait for it to be available in ArcGIS Enterprise.
There are a couple of additional functions that we'd love to be available.
1) Ability to set the home extent of the map. Because the app isn't set up from a web map, there isn't currently the ability to set up a home extent, and so it automatically defaults to a view of Africa and Europe. Being based in Australia this is a bit frustrating for our users. While we can recommend that they use Bookmarks, it would be better if we could set up the extents to focus on Australia.
2) Ability to group layers in the Add layers menu. It would be good if layers could be grouped by categories, or tags, or manually sorted into groups for use in the app. As we are using the app in conjunction with ArcGIS Hub, we tend to have a lot of layers that can become a bit arduous to scroll through. It would be better if users can use groupings to narrow in on what they are looking for. The search function is great, but additional structures would really help, and prevent users from being overwhelmed.
3) It would be great to have a better understanding of how the search tool functions in the Add Layers tool. It doesn't appear to search tags, perhaps only using layer titles? It would be useful if the tool could access tags so that users don't need to have the title of the content at hand to be able to find it.
4) Option to set up a splash screen. It would be great if we could set up a splash screen to provide some context, or information to users before they start using the application (and also to provide them with a link so that we can collect feedback). I know this is available with some of the other app templates, so perhaps this is something that will come as it moves out of beta?
Overall, we love the app, it's the best way to provide a mapping application without the considerable performance issues of having heaps of layers available for users to turn on and off.
Thanks,
Emily
