Hi there, @Jill_Saligoe-Simmel,
we are thrilled by the new "ArcGIS INSPIRE Open Data" solution, which is far more easier to understand and more straightforward to use, than its predecessor "ArcGIS for INSPIRE".
Currently, just a subset of templates is available for View/Download services publishing (AD, AM, AU, BU, GN, LU, US). But many users work with other themes from Annex I, II, III and would like to make use of GDB templates for these themes.
We are aware, that producing streamlined GDB templates is a creative process and requires expert knowledge and also Esri states on the GitHub repo, that "any contribution is welcome".
Please, is there any sort of schedule, when users may expect the INSPIRE GDB templates for the remaining themes to be available at https://arcgis-inspire-esri.opendata.arcgis.com/pages/resources?
Or is it meant the other way, let's say just a preview, and if somebody needs to publish some other theme (which is currently not available as a ready to use template), he/she should on his/her own, prepare the template based solely on data specification PDFs (https://inspire.ec.europa.eu/data-specifications/2892) and publish the services, while using the Administrator's Guide tutorial as an instruction guide?
Thank you kindly in advance.
Hi @straka_arcgeois ,
very good to hear of your interest. We do not currently have additional templates under development, rather we have established the process that we or others could follow. In the GitHub project repo, we've documented the model transformation rules and the GDB encoding for each theme. It is a repeatable process, and should you or others want to follow it, we would be pleased to have contributions of other themes. You're correct that it is a creative process and takes a bit of expert knowledge.
It would be of great help to us to learn more about your use case and organization requirements. Would you be willing to have a conversation? If so, please send me an email at inspire@esri.com, and we can arrange a call.
Best regards,
Jill
Hi @Jill_Saligoe-Simmel, thank you for clarification.
The story behind the scene is that in following days will our company (as an Esri sub-distributor) host a 2-day user conference and one of the proposed discussion topics is this next-gen INSPIRE solution for ArcGIS platform.
Many of our customers work in spatial industries different from the themes, for which currently GDB templates are now available. Naturally, we expect questions from them, regarding how they could implement INSPIRE services via ArcGIS platform for themes like "Transport Networks / Hydrology / Orthometry" and the like. Currently, your answer is sufficient in this context, for which we are, again, grateful!
Based on how our national ArcGIS user community reacts to this modern "ArcGIS INSPIRE Open Data" concept, I would maybe reach out to you over again, but currently no further call is needed, as the whole thing is in very beginning/general stage.
Regards, Juraj Straka.
Thanks, Juraj, have a great evening!
