Trying to get started with Insights, but I'm running into an issue creating a workbook (WB). Each time I try to create a new WB, the console displays an error that says:

"Error: Create Service exception 'Unexpected: no hosting server available.'"

I have access to ArcServer, ArcPortal, and Insights. I've created and shared the map I want to work on. Any thoughts?

This indicates that ArcGIS Server is not federated with Portal and configured as the hosting Server. To configure a hosting server:

  1. Go to Portal admin settings > Servers tab
  2. Add the ArcGIS Server to the "Federated Servers"
  3. Set the ArcGIS Server as the hosting server from the dropdown

More details in the documentation can be found here: Configure a hosting server—Portal for ArcGIS (10.5.x) | ArcGIS Enterprise
