Hi All,
I am a novice using ArcMobile and have been experimenting making an ArcMobile project this week.  I have a few questions I have been unable to resolve.

1. Using Mobile Project Center I save my project to ArcGIS.com account.  When I try to download using mobile device I see the file but get one of these errors when trying to open - "error occurred extracting mobile package" or "project file does not exist".
2. In ArcMobile I have world imagery and street maps layers as my background data.  However when I zoom into an area showing a couple houses it says the data is not available.  I can view this same imagery/street maps layers in ArcMap at the same scale so why won't it display in Mobile?
3. My mobile application constantly crashes for no apparent reason.  I just receive the "an unexpected error has occurred and the application will need to exit".
4. Using the Create Mobile Map GP Tool->  how do you deploy to a device?  The tool executed created a cache folder and an .amp file and the instructions indicate this project package can be "deployed directly to devices for use in the field".  How do I open this project because it is not an .wmpk project file?  How do I deploy this map to a mobile device - ArcGIS mobile has me download a project from the server or ArcGIS online (cannot post to my online account)?

Any help with the above questions would be greatly appreciated?  Thanks in advance,

Jason

Hi and welcome to the forums, I will try to help you with some of your questions:

1) Personally I save my projects from MPC to my ArcGIS server, not to ArcGIS.com, so I can't give you much help there, but I do suggest using your own server for now.

2) Not sure about this, could be just limitation of the device or lack of internet connection (speed) on the mobile device.

3) Windows Mobile crashes a lot, I have one of the earlier builds and I have noticed this and made a post about it. If you download the latest build, it is said to increase the stability of Windows Mobile. Note you may want to try the Tablet version to get some understanding or play around with it.

4) I know it has been said to use the GP tool to create a cache and upload them to your mobile devices. In my situtation I don't have to use GP, I can connect my mobile device (Tablet via ethernet and Window Mobile via USB using MS ActiveSync). Then Synchronize the data and then disconnect the devices and use them. I have found this to be much faster than manually creating the cache and then putting them on each device.

For now, you may just want to take some of these steps I did so that you can start to see how ArcGIS Mobile operates.

Please do ask if you have any further questions.

Good Luck!
