Hello All,

Does the mobile map control honor the label placement options specified in the mobile map service / MXD? As far as I can tell, the answer to that question is (unfortunately) NO. Font settings like size and color are honored, but label placement appears not.

I have a service with a point layer and the labels are being placed centered above the point, rather than to the upper right as specified in the service/MXD. I tried various other label placement choices in the service/MXD, but in the mobile map the label always places the same way.

See attached image for a screen shot showing the (proper) label placement in ArcMap and the label placement in a mobile map control.

I'm having the same issue... Does anyone else on the forum have a resolution or work around for this issue?

Convert to Annotations?

Try that and see if that works.

I will be testing this in the far future my self.

AkhilP - Thanks for the reply.  Yes, annotation is an option.  We've used it fairly extensively to overcome some of these labeling limitations in Mobile.  However, annotation comes with its own set of challenges - for example, since it does not scale with the map you typically need to create several sets of annotation for a given feature set (like roads), with different font sizes etc. appropriate for a range of map scales.  It works, but definitely adds a lot of effort to creating/maintaining a map cache.

Yah, unfortunately this is correct. I have yet to tackle this issue, but you are creating a mobile map, hopefully you can decrease the number of zoom scales and to reduce your workload.

I have had similar issues here with Manhole labels. We created the map in ArcMap with both Manholes and Roads labeled. In mobile it appears that only the Road labels turn up and not the Manhole labels. I am using version 10 and have made repeated changes to the Manhole labels to try and get them on in the Mobile map but to no avail. I was wondering if you had any advice on this. I have included a few screen shots of my Manhole labels.
