Just recently installed ArcGIS Mobile 10 on desktop and Trimble GeoExplorer 2008 series GeoXM device running Windows Mobile 6.1 Classic.
Created mobile map from existing mxd file. Created project from that mobile cache in Mobile Project Center. Copied project folder into appropriate folder on the GeoXM.
Started up ArcGIS Mobile 10 on the GeoXM. Application functions normally. Able to add features, edit features, use GPS, etc. However, ArcGIS Mobile takes over the entire interface of the GeoXM device. I cannot access the Start Menu. I cannot switch to other running applications. I cannot find any setting that will allow me access to the Start Menu or to minimize the application instead of closing ArcGIS Mobile altogether.
Is there a solution for this or is this the manner in which ArcGIS Mobile is intended to run? If the latter, why?
Our work processes require that we be able to run Trimble TerraSync to gather GPS data for later differential correction. This was never a problem with ArcPad with which one could minimize the app and access or open other applications.
I appreciate the simplicity and straightforward nature of ArcGIS Mobile but not at the expense of being able to run any other applications on the device.
