Hello we have a problem with the web part language.  The Server is 2008 R2 in german, the sharepointinstallation is german and no languagepack is installed.
The english webpart interpreted the points and comma in columns other than in german wp.
New Installation has the same result. I have no idea where's the problem. Can i change the language manually?

Thanks for help.

Hi,

Can you provide a bit more information about the problem? It shouldn't be an issue with the language, as all of the logic should be in place in the English WP.

Hi,

I've installed the WP on a german W2K8R2 with Sp 2010 EP, all in german. The Installationdialog was in german! Then I create a new Site with the WP. The Ribbons and Options are in english. The documantation of the WP say "automatically respect the language of the current SharePoint site or page".
Ive no idea wheres the Problem.

The language is'nt the great Problem, the english WP interprets the decimaltypes . and , other then the german WP.
All decimal numbers displayed and interpreted incorrect.

Thanks for help.

Hi Hendrik,

Regarding the installer showing German text, but nothing else, this is expected behavior. Enabling non-English languages requires installation of a language pack and these have not been released yet (releases of the language packs are forthcoming!)

On the decimal issue, this should work with any combination of server and client locale, and isn't something we've been able to reproduce. The best solution at this point would be for you to contact Support, as they will be able to set up a system similar to yours and see if they can reproduce the issue.

Hi Katy,

thank you for your answer. I'm confused, in the beta, the language selection works fine. So what, i'm waiting for launch.

Hi Hendrik,

You are correct, at beta we included the "language pack" in the setup, which is how you would have seen that. We did not do that with the Final release because we wanted to ensure full support of SharePoint functionality and its ability to support multiple languages within a farm (the model we used at beta only lets you install one language).

Still, the decimal issue you are seeing should work regardless of language. At this point the best solution would be for you to contact our Support services and see what might be going on.

Thank you,
Katy

The problem with the decimal-numbers persists.

To reproduce: Try to make class-breaks under "Symbols" wit numbers formated like 16802,42.
The "Scheme options" window displays the comma as a point. Could be no problem, but the classes are not correct. Most of the points are themed with the "Default Symbol". And if you try to edit the class-borders by yourself, the decimal-point is deleted and the numbers are all getting big (16802.42 changes to 1680242).

Very annoying problem, because class-breaks are very important!

EDIT:
"Unique Value" symbology is working fine and as expected. The numbers are correctly displayed in "Scheme options", wit a comma, not a point.
