If ArcGIS for Sharepoint is installed on a web server, and permissions set up properly, can one publish Sharepoint maps on an intranet via remote login to the web server over the network?

I'm unsure if I understand the workflow in your post.

You install ArcGIS for SharePoint on a SharePoint site. The web part is added and configured like any other web part on a SharePoint page, which can be accessed within an intranet as long as users have the appropriate permissions to the page.
