I work in Transportation, and I would like to be able to add layers to my maps using geographic data that is filtered by fields in my excel sheet. This would simplify my project tracker and allow for easier updating and expansion of my tracker.
My project tracker uses the project's roadway segment number and matches it to the segments in the hosted feature layer provided by my organization at a 1 to 1 relation. The problem occurs when a project is across multiple segments or subsegments, resulting in the visualization only showing part of the project. Being able to see all features/roadway segments matching my project number would eliminate extra rows in my project tracker and simplify the process of adding new projects that cover multiple segments.
Images below: The green line shows the layer mapped from excel through geographic data. The red shows the actual project extent which I made in ArcGIS Pro just to compare.
Note: The layer seems to get confused when there are multiple matches and will show different segments, somewhat randomly at different elevations. Exporting the layer in this case results in partial data being exported.
@BrandonDrawhorn Hey there! Thank you for sharing! These user cases are so insightful and help us develop and improve the software. I would like to be able to research this further. Are you able to share a sample of your dataset?
All the best,
SC
