Introduction

ArcGIS for Excel is a free Add-In available on the Microsoft store. Through ArcGIS for Excel, you can connect to ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise and perform GIS analysis within the Excel. In this article, step-by-step instructions are provided on how to download the ArcGIS for Excel Add-in from the Microsoft Store. Currently, the ArcGIS for Excel app can only be downloaded from the Microsoft store and not from the ArcGIS.com site.

 

Prerequisite

The below table provides an overview of the supported Office client applications and the minimum build or versions for ArcGIS for Excel. It outlines the Office versions that are compatible with ArcGIS for Excel and the minimum version of each application necessary for the ArcGIS for Excel to operate correctly.

How to Install ArcGIS for Excel from Microsoft Store

Open Excel, Go to Insert Tab -> Add-Ins -> Get Add-Ins -> Store -> Search for ‘ArcGIS for Excel’ -> Add

Once the 'ArcGIS' tab is added to the Excel Ribbon, click on the "Show Map" button. This will open the 'ArcGIS for Excel' (A4Excel) task pane. From the task pane, you can connect to ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise, add data to the map, symbolize and run analysis. For a demonstration of the steps in action, watch this video –

If the Microsoft store is inaccessible to you due to organizational restrictions, please contact your IT admin team for assistance. Your IT admin can install the 'ArcGIS for Excel' Add-In on all accounts in the organization using Microsoft admin center, allowing them to access the ArcGIS for Excel from their Excel workbook. This article offers useful guidance on distributing ArcGIS for Excel Add-ins for your organization's users using Microsoft Admin Center's Centralized Deployment feature. Using this Microsoft admin center function, you can quickly and easily distribute ArcGIS for Excel Add-ins to multiple users in your company.
