ArcGIS for Excel 2025.3.0.0.54 adds the option to use line and polygon centroids in spatial relationships, display coordinates on hover, and related record viewing, plus a more intuitive UI with improved messaging.  

New features 

  1. Centroid tool

Example: Nearest Southern California Zipcodes that fall inside Orange county boundary 

2. Display Coordinate Information when hovering over the map

Enhancements  

  • Support of MFA 
  • Consistent object ID whether creating an ArcGIS for Excel layer or ArcGIS Online 
  • ENH-000176426 License expired notification 
  • ENH-000170508 Add support for 'Date Only' and 'Time Only' field types  
  • User can make a choice whether they want the new sheet of the feature layer when sharing 
  • Support subtype group layers in editing 
  • As a follow up enhancement to support for coded value domains and subtypes we extended support to subtype group layers 
  • UI elements will remain hidden in drawing mode

Fixed bugs 

  • BUG-000177969 The error message 'Must declare the scalar variable ‘‘@FID’’' appears when editing the geometry of a shapefile that includes an FID field in ArcGIS for Excel. 
  • BUG-000177809 Can not create a new feature layer from excel worksheet with changed data schema. The error message, “Error Data already belongs to a hosted ArcGIS Layer”. 
  • BUG-000176830 Receiving “ERROR 089138: Failed to create Feature Service while running the Create Spatial Filter tool". 
  • Non-stop REST request loop when loading ArcGIS Online map containing Enterprise IWA layer in ArcGIS 
  • Cursor becomes arrow and cannot place a point in map after clicking "Layers" button in menu bar while in draw geometry mode 

 Quality of Mapping 

The user interface is now more intuitive and user-friendly with Improved error and warning messaging. 

  • Resolved several translation and localization issues 
  • UI/UX polishes 
  • Updated icons
