Switch Unable to set Default Values

I am making map for boundary closures. So I have a feature layer with points taken from a spreadsheet, and the form I'm using is a switch, to show if a site is currently open or closed. I noticed that I am unable to set a default value, and when I tested it on Field Maps, I can switch a point to "Closed" but setting it back to open gives me a "No Value." I looked under Templates, and I have 2 values, "Open" and "Closed." I'm trying to have "Open" as a default value, but all options to set a default value is unavailable.

Hi @JoshuaRomer

I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to set the default value.

  • Did you try setting the default value in the Templates tab in Field Maps Designer?
  • Can you post a screenshot of what you see there?

Hello, in my original post, I was for some reason not allowed to post screenshots. This is what I was seeing, trying to set default values was straight up unavailable, I couldn't interact with it. However, I found a workaround, using a combo box instead of a switch. I was wanting the map points to change color from green to red while I was opening/closing locations.

Hi @JoshuaRomer

I'm not sure why it wasn't working as expected. You should be able to set the default value here:

This might help to reset things for you

  • In the Styles pane, switch to a single symbol
  • Open the Styles pane again and switch back to unique values (open/closed)
  • After you update the style, open the Templates window
  • You should be prompted to update the templates to match the style (open/closed)
