How to change layer name to alias in Fieldmaps when collecting data with multiple layers

I am creating a fieldmaps project. When I go to collect data in the app by clicking the "plus" button the layers are named with their file name and not the alias.

I was able to change the fields and other pop ups within each layer individually, but when I get selecting which layer to collect data in the default name for example is "BLM_Tagged2025_04DEC2024" or "BLM_Plot2025_04DEC2024" instead of the alias "Tagged 2025" or "Plot 2025". I would include a photo, but I do not have permission.

By chance, did you attempt to create a feature in Field Maps before noticing and adjusting the underscored names in the layers? If so, you may try removing the layer, adding it again and then updating the layer name before attempting edits. But before doing that, you may also try the "Reload Map" option (from the Maps main menu) in Field Maps. This will help to clear up any lingering changes that have not been pushed through from the updated webmap to Field Maps.

Also, in the map used to create the service, how do the names appear? If they contain the underscores you may need to correct the layer names there and then overwrite the service, if the above suggestion(s) doesn't fix the appearance in the Field Maps.

In my pro project that is how they are named. If I change the layer names in the original project and republish to AGOL, will it change all my configurations I have already made in AGOL?

If you overwrite, yes it will change most things you have customized on the webmap side. You will probably have to remove the existing layers and re-add them to your webmap to get the proper effect on the names of your layers. You can try overwriting without removing the layers and see what happens but most-likely you will have to remove the existing layers.
