Field Maps Crashing When Using Copy All Function - Samsung Galaxy

Greetings,

We are trying to troubleshoot an issue with one of our organization's Field Maps application.  We were attempting to copy a polygon from one feature layer to another using the "Copy All" tool.  Clicking "Copy All" on a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 5G caused Field Maps to crash.  When performing the same function on an iPhone iOS 26.3 Field Maps was successful and there were no issues/crashing.

Has anyone had any similar issues, and found any resolutions?

Hi @JDLP

Sorry to hear you are experiencing this, I have came across similar community threads relating to this issue with further suggestions in them you might find helpful.

Solved: Field Maps App Immediately Crashes - Esri Community

Solved: Re: Field Maps Crashing on Android Device After Co... - Esri Community

If you haven't I would suggest raising a case with your distributor's technical support to get a deeper dive into this issue.

If you can get the logs from the application when the issue happened:

• Open Field Maps
• Tap Profile → Troubleshooting
• Enable Logging
• Reproduce the crash
• Tap View Logs → ⋮ → Share

Try with a simpler polygon that has:

  • Minimal attributes
  • No Arcade expressions

Observe then if the issue is persistent, this should help narrow down on data or device issue.

Any special characters in field names/pop up titles/arcade expression.

Update the Field Maps app if needed.

I hope some of the above helps.

@JDLP Its helpful to know this doesnt occur on iOS. If you have another android device of a differn't model it would be good to know if the crash happens there as well. Can you also confirm what version of Field Maps you have installed?

To @DanielFox1 s point, what type of attributes exist in the feature that is being copied and does the crash happen with other features or layers?

Thank you for the responses @DanielFox1 and @ColinLawrence.  The version that is crashing is version 26.1.1 Build 2728.  The version on the iPhone that is working is 26.1.1 and Build 2542.  I'll see if we can test on some other devices, and possible different versions.

Thanks - some scenarios to try outside of the different devices:

- Different data in the same map

- Same data in a new map

- Separate (new) data and map

If you dont reproduce with a different data/layer in the same map, then it might be a problem with the layer configuration. If you dont reproduce with the same layer in a different map then it might be something in the map configuration. Let us know what you find!

So I had access to @JDLP 's data. I played around with settings for hours, and the only time (for any android device) that the data would "copy all" to a new polygon layer without crashing was when the base data to be copied did not show unique values (symbology) in the base data's template tab in FieldMaps. Oddly, this did not mean that the map output's base data needed to be non-unique values, just that it couldn't show up in the template tab.

So, the problem is functionally solved, but the underlying issue causing this crash remains unknown.

Thanks @Timothy_Marsh @JDLP . What type of field is used for the unique value symbols? I had tried this out with my own data and do not reproduce a crash. If possible, you can also share the map to a Group in ArcGIS Online and invite the user arcgisfieldmaps. I can then test directly with the same data.
