Hi all!
I recently ran into a weird issue where field maps would fail to load in one layer amongst several in an offline map, stating error 56 'geodatabase error'. It took me several hours of debugging and troubleshooting in order to figure out the solution.
The long and short of it was that the base data I was using in Excel was either formatted in a way that Field Maps could not reconcile, or there was something corrupted in the data itself. To get around this, I copied the data over to a fresh workbook, and rebuilt the layer from that new workbook. This resolved the error in Field Maps, and now the layer displays appropriately.
