Field Maps allows users to create new stand-alone features using either the '+' button (which zooms to the current location and creates a feature at the current location) or by touch-and-hold on the map (which creates a feature at the touched map location).
However, when using Field Maps to create a related feature (ie, a new feature which has a relationship with another feature from a different layer), this second option is not available. The only option is to get zoomed to the current location, which may be a great distance from the feature. In this case, the user has to manually pan/zoom back to the location to correct the location of the new related feature.
In our case, we are wanting to create defect (point) features which should be related to the defective asset feature. It will be common to create multiple defects for the same asset, and even more common to create multiple defects for multiple assets which are close to each other. The user may not be at that location.
In this situation, for every defect point that is created, the map will actually be automatically zoomed AWAY from the location where the new related feature is to be created, and the user will have to zoom back to the correct location again. The user will need to do this for every related defect feature again and again and again, making this an excruciatingly painful exercise.
Please fix this.
Or let me know if there is some way that I'm unaware of get the behaviour that I need.
Have you tried this setting in Field Maps Designer? Not sure about adding related features, but keeps it from zooming 'back' to you when you press the '+' button. Suspect it would work for the related features as well.
