Hi @SteveTaylor6 - with the convergence of Explorer and Collector into Field Maps, we did not want to change the default behavior expected for either app. So if you open a map that is read-only, it should open to the default extent that you authored the map to.
If you open a map that you can edit, it should open to your current GPS location so that it establishes the GPS connection (especially for external receivers) before you start collection.
Opinions vary on the most effective method for opening the map. We'd like feedback on this moving forward. Please share your thoughts!
Thanks,
Jeff
Hi @JeffShaner
This is interesting. I have several web maps for editing that I somehow configured to open to the default map extent. But now I'm working with a new web map for editing that will only open in my current location. I see the point about opening at current location to establish GPS location but for consultants like me, & project managers, we are often testing our FM set ups at some distance from the map location so having them open to the default would be nice. And I can't figure out why some of my maps do that!
@SteveTaylor6 can you please submit this to Esri Support so that we can get a repro case with you? Thanks!
